The Beauty Blogger | TAG

Source
*I actually wrote this post back in August but completely  forgot about it, I found it in my drafts this morning so decided to put it up*

Hey everyone,

I was tagged by the lovely Hannah from Hannah Hepton to do this tag. She has a lovely blog, you should all go check her out :)

1. Name a beauty routine you barely do
Eyebrows, my main worry is that I'll make my eyebrows look too dark and totally wrong. I find eyebrows are one of those things that if you do wrong, you do them very wrong and it's pretty noticeable. Also, being blonde I find it harder to find anything that would match my eyebrow colour so when I do try to fill them in they look too brown or too ashy. I'm currently trying to fix this by doing my eyebrows more but I still neglect them a bit.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Quite regularly, sometimes though I get so busy I really can't be bothered. I'm good with washing my eye brushes and they are easy to wash and dry quickly. I hate washing my foundation brush and blush brush though, they have so much product in them and it takes forever to get out.

3. How long will you last with chip nails?
It really depends, if I'm just chilling in the house then I won't care and will let them get as chipped as possible. If I'm seeing friends or going for a night out I always repaint them to make sure they are chipped, nothing worse than really chipped nail polish.

4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it? (i.e. top coat, foundation and so on)
It depends on if I can afford it at the time. For example, my Urban Decay Setting Spray has currently run out and it used to be a staple in my daily routine, however it's on the pricier side so I haven't been able to replace it yet. However, I always make sure I replace foundation/mascara etc straight away, whether it be a repurchase or a new buy.

5. What’s your worst beauty habit?
Biting my nails, I don't even realise I'm doing it and my nails are so weak because of it. I'm not so bad at doing it anymore, but my nails are already so weak they just break so easily.

6. Name something non beauty related you put off doing all of the time.
Laundry, it's boring and it takes ages. I'm lucky in that I have quite a lot of clothes so I just wear all my clothes until I have nothing left and have to do the washing.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?
Nope, unless it's a spur on the moment thing. I generally take about an hour and a half to get ready (washing and drying my hair takes up a lot of that) so make sure to start getting ready with enough time to spare, I hate rushing.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
I've never been on a spending ban but I have to budget because of my student loan so can't buy anywhere near what I would like to.

9. How organised are your makeup and nail polish collections?
Not at all, it's actually pretty bad how unorganised it is. My nails varnish is kinda organised, it's all stood up in a drawer. My makeup is all over the place, because I use it so often and am always rumaging through it I never see the point in tidying it up because it just gets messy again.

10. What is the longest time you’ve gone without writing a blog post?
I'm a big scheduler, in fact during the summer I managed to create 3 months worth of scheduled posts. Because of this the longest I've gone without having a blog post being posted is 3 days, but I have gone slightly longer without writing one.

Beauty vs Brains | TAG

1. What is your favourite book?
Ooh this is a toughie, I can't really remember all of the books I've read. I really like The Handmaid's Tale by Magaret Atwood. I don't get much time to read anymore, most of the books I read are textbooks for my course.

2. Which mottos do you like saying a lot?
'Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end'
3. Which do you prefer: English or Maths?
English, I didn't particularly like or enjoy maths. I didn't mind algebra or things like that, but I hated anything to do with shape I could never get my head around it.

4. Which do you prefer: Science or Art?
Hmmm, I liked art but I never loved it, it took up a lot of time and it tested my patience at times. So I'd probably have to go with science, I didn't like physics though, Chemistry was my favourite.

5. Name 5 albums/artists that changed your life
I like music but I don't really listen to many artists I just tend to have the radio on and listen to whatever is in the charts. The only album I'd say I really love is Night Visions by Imagine Dragons, so of the songs on that are amazing.

6. What were you favourite and least favourite subjects in school?
Favourite: History, Classics and RE
Least: Maths, Physics

7. Who is your favourite celebrity with a brain?
Emma Watson, she attended a Top uni in the US and also had a year at Oxford. The fact she managed to get such good grades while also fitting in her busy schedule of filming makes her an inspiration in my eyes.

8. What is your nerdy secret?
Hmmm not sure I really have one, I suppose my degree (Law) is kind of nerdy? I also really like medical/crime tv shows - the ones that actually make you think. I loved Body of Proof before they cancelled it.

9. Who are your favourite beauty/fashion gurus that you admire for more than their beauty/fashion sense?
I really admire Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter as she has been through quite a lot but still manages to remain positive, and the message she gives to her viewers/readers is a great one. I also admire Ruth from A Model Recommends, before she was discovered she was studying Law at Birmimgham uni which shows she is intelligent and this really comes across in her reviews. You can tell she knows what she's talking about and has clearly done a lot of research.

10. If you could study anything anywhere, what would you study and where?
Law at Harvard. I do a law degree, and would love to have the chance to study at the best place in the world.

11. If your blog wasn't about beauty/fashion what would it be about?
I actually think it'd be about current issues in the news. As part of my degree I need to know about current issues but find this is something I struggle with, so for a while I considered setting up a blog about current global issues.

12. Name something your obsessed with that most people find a bit nerdy?
The internet probably! I mean I know most people use it, but I use it a lot, like, a lot a lot. Literally I must spend 6 hours + on it most days which I know is bad. If I'm not at my computer then I'm on it on my phone.

13. Name 5 people, excluding family and friends, that inspire you
J K Rowling -
One of the richest women in the world and she kept trying to get her work published even when she was rejected by so many publishers - and it really paid off for her.

Lord Sugar -
If you're not from the UK you may not know who he is, but he's a huge entrepreneur who is responsible for quite a few companies. He made his money by starting from the bottom and really had to work for everything that he got.

Tom Daley -
He managed to get A's at A level while having an Olympic career? I'd say that's pretty inspiring.

Baroness Hale -
She is the only woman to sit in the Supreme Court and for that reason I find it inspiring and see her as my academic inspiration. I'd love to be in her position when I grow up.

Steve Jobs -
I really think he was one of the most intelligent men on the planet, his creativity lead to some amazing innovations.

14. Who's your intellectual soul mate?
Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee - He's credited as creating the World Wide Web and I truly love the internet, so I'd say we are pretty well matched there.

15. Who will you tag?
I'm going to tag anyone who feels like doing this tag! If you do this tag or have already done it, please link it in the comments I'd love to read it.

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty | TAG

GREED
What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most inexpensive beauty item would probably have to be my MUA Eyebrow Pencil which was £1. My most expensive beauty item would have to be my YSL Manifesto Perfume which is £46.50/30ml.

WRATH
What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
I have a love/hate relationship with all of my foundations. I'll buy a foundation and fall in love with it the first few times I use it, but then I'll start to hate it and not want to wear it. I'll find it becomes cakey on me, or doesn't apply as well as it used to. The hardest product to get was probably the first Naked Palette. I got mine when it first came out and it was originally going to be limited edition, I therefore got the last one in my local Debenhams, and didn't see any new palettes for weeks!

GLUTTONY
What are your most delicious beauty products?
This was hard as I don't really have many lip products that taste nice, but I think my Fanta Fruit Twist Lipbalm is my most delicious. It tastes exactly like Fanta Fruit Twist and I always find myself licking my lips when I'm wearing it.

SLOTH
What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
My eyebrows. I am getting better at it now since getting my MUA Eyebrow Pencil. Before I never did anything with them or if I did, they looked awful. I think I'm getting the hang of it now though.

PRIDE
What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Foundation. I don't have perfect skin (it's not awful just a bit of redness and the odd blemish) and it really gets me down. I can't leave the house without wearing my foundation, but can leave it without wearing anything else. If I have nice skin, I feel a lot more confident in myself. I think bright lipstick also makes me feel more confident too, as it makes me feel glamorous and I always get people complimenting my lip colour.

LUST
What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
Good hair. It is the first thing I notice, I'm not one of those people that dislikes guys who spend time on their appearance. In fact, I like guys who take the effort to straighten their hair or add styling product too it, us girls have to go through a lot of effort so it's nice to see a guy making some for a change!

ENVY
What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
The Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in 01 Blondes, I've had my eye on it for a while and think it is stunning, but sadly the high price tag means it's out of my student budget.

I wasn't tagged by anyone but loved the look of this tag so decided to do it anyway! If you would like to do it too, go ahead!

Makeup First and Fails | Tag

Firstly thank you to the lovely Becki for tagging me to do this tag. It's really interesting remembering the mistakes I used to make when I first started to wear makeup. Hopefully I don't make these mistakes anymore.

Wearing the Wrong Colour of Foundation/Concealer:
This works both ways. I used to wear foundation that was either too light for me or too dark. I'm pretty pale so it wasn't hard for me to accidentally wear darker foundation. When I was young (13/14) I didn't know much about makeup so only bought what was available in Boots/Superdrug where I could test it on the back of my hand. However, I still ended up with foundation that was slightly too dark or the wrong undertone (I used to wear a very pinky foundation when I'm more netural-warm undertoned). Luckily I have long hair so I don't think any difference was too obvious to anyone. I also used to sometimes wear foundation that was too pale for me. As I'm too pale for most drugstore/highstreet foundations I used to always assume I was the palest in every brand. However this sometimes meant I wore foundation that was much too pale for me.

Using too much Shimmer:
I like shimmery products, and when I was younger I'd have shimmery lips with shimmer eyeshadow and glittery eyeliner, the works. Whenever I went to a school disco or anything similar I'd use to just use whatever shimmery/glittery products I had to get a 'party look'. I also remember owning neon yellow and purple hair mascaras.

Not using Powder:
I have pretty dry skin, so I used to think that meant I didn't need to use any powder at all. I was sadly mistaken. My makeup wouldn't last as long or I would end up looking shiny as I used a lot of moisturiser to try and hydrate my skin - not a good look.

Not using Eyeshadow Primer:
When I was younger I wasn't aware that you needed to prime anything, I always used to be amazed that I'd wear such bright eyeshadow and it would be gone or would crease so quickly. I wasn't aware that I needed to prime my eyes. I also didn't know how to blend eyeshadows or about fall out either. I also really liked pastel colours on my eyelids...

Not Sharpening pencils:
I didn't used to realise they made separate sharpeners to sharpen your eyeliners/eyebrow pencils so used to just use them blunt, or attempt to use a normal pencil sharpener which usually lead to them breaking.

Drawing my eyebrows in too dark:
My eyebrows were never as bad as some, infact I didn't really fill them in much at all. But when I did I tended to try and use eyeshadow which was too dark for me.  Luckily I wasn't as bad as some I've seen, I never filled my brows in using black kohl pencil, nor did I shape them so they looked like I had two big 'M' shapes on my face.

Not blending Blush:
I love bright blush, I've always been attracted to it. However, when I was younger I was not so brilliant at blending that blush into my foundation so it looked very unnatural and almost clown-like. I also tended to use cheaper blushes (i.e those cheap ones you get in those huge sets that cost about £2) which were very powdery and hard to blend anyway.

So that's it for my makeup firsts and fails, let me know if any of you did any of these when you were younger!
